Europe

Europe is a continent located entirely in the Northern Hemisphere, mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Europe is the world’s second-smallest continent by area, covering about 10.18 million square kilometers (3.93 million square miles) or 2% of the Earth’s surface and about 6.8% of its land area. Etymology

The name “Europe” derived from the ancient Greek mythological figure Europa, who was a Phoenician princess. The myth tells that Zeus, the king of the gods, transformed himself into a white bull and abducted Europa. This name was later adopted to represent the entire continent.
